Strangers

We started our life together slowly as strangers,

A damaged man and a US Army Ranger

And a hurt young girl who had only recently been set free

You were a baby and I was already on strike three.

It hasn’t always been easy but our life has been good.

The bonds we’ve built together are much thicker than blood.

The Parents, the kids, the fights and the making up,

None of it matters as long as I’m next to you when waking up.

So yes, we started our life together slowly as strangers,

A hurt young girl and a damaged Army Ranger.

Now so much more than just my wife and my lover,

You’re my best friend and our children’s mother.
