Brave Little Boy (Poem)

Brave little boy

Shamed during every night’s sleep.

Brave little boy

Keeping all the secrets buried so deep.

Brave little boy

A smile hiding the fear from his youthful face.

Brave little boy

Swallowing a scream of rage against his fate.

Brave little boy

Still afraid of the wet, dank night.

Brave little boy

Making his bed up so very, very tight.

Brave little boy

Riding his bike daily to work.

Brave little boy

Standing up to bullies and jerks.

Brave little boy

Steadfast, hardworking, loyal, and kind.

Brave little boy

Somehow still feels he’s always left behind.

Brave little boy

Fighting as ferociously as he could.

Brave little boy

Growing hard inside as oaken wood.

Brave little boy

Sometimes the betrayer, often betrayed, Brave little boy

Couldn’t make it matter and he never stayed.

Brave little boy

Watching a little boy end changed his whole world,

Brave little boy

The strings of his heart come completely un-whorled.

Brave little boy

Seeking solace in ocean, mountains and sun.

Brave little boy

Found by a brave little girl; a new journey begun.

Brave little boy

Steadfastly refusing to ever quit.

Brave little boy

Learning and growing bit-by-tiny-bit.

Brave little boy

No longer walking through life all alone.

Brave little boy

Living with love, family, and a happy home.
